As part of our ongoing commitment to promoting quality sacred music in every parish, the Sacred Music Institute of America, LLC offers individualized training opportunities for deacons and priests. We offer training in the following areas: Exsultet, Chanting the Mass, Combination Packages and even Complete Deacon Certification. Click on the buttons below to learn more about the available packages.

​​We recommend to those who do not read music the Basic Musical Notation Seminar as part of their training; otherwise, please choose another elective from the below list.

Any package can be rounded out by adding the remaining four elective seminars for a reduced price of $320.  Separate elective seminars are available for $90 each.

  • Basic Musical Notation I - Rhythmic values (whole, half, quarter, eighth, sixteenth, thirty-second, and various dotted notes), pitch identification (treble and bass clefs)

  • Basic Musical Notation II - Simple and compound time signatures, rhythmic patterns, sharps/flats/naturals

  • Chant Basics - Fundamentals of reading and singing Gregorian chant.

  • Gregorian Modes - Learn how to identify and utilize the church modes in Gregorian chant.

  • Church Documents Pertaining to Sacred Music - Explore the Church's official guidance on sacred music through texts including the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, Sing to the Lord, Tra le sollecitudini, and more.
